Teach the Babies
- Description
"Teach the babies" is a beseechment to protect all children, particularly Black children, in ways that enable them to learn and develop into happy, healthy, and whole beings.— Dr. David J. Johns
If you've been following our friend @drdavidjohns on Instagram or seen any of his numerous interviews, you've probably heard him say "Teach the babies" before. Johns has been a long-time customer and supporter of Stoop & Stank and it was a no-brainer to partner with him to put this mantra on a tshirt.
Johns is a recognized thought leader and social justice champion. His organization, the National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) is dedicated to the empowerment of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer+, and same-gender loving (LGBTQ+/SGL) people, including people living with HIV/AIDS. A portion of the proceeds of sales of this shirt will benefit NBJC and its programs.
"Often non-white children aren’t seen as human or nurtured in love," says Johns. "As someone who has always worked at supporting children in ways I wish more adults had shown up for me, and as one of the few Black male elementary school educators in my field, 'Teach the babies' became my motto and life’s mission somewhat naturally."
